Hypnotherapy is subject to many myths and misconceptions but is basically an altered state of consciousness, where the subject is in charge and in control. It is a relaxed state, which you probably enter when you are daydreaming or close to sleep. The Hypnotherapist guides the subject to become less aware of everyday worries and concentrate on specific goals such as losing weight usually through relaxation. A trained Hypnotherapist can teach the subject self hypnosis techniques that they can then adopt themselves to benefit from.


Hypnosis has been around for many years now and works with the subconscious part of a persons mind, the part where all our habits and memories are kept, sometimes these memories can be suppressed and should the client want to, we can uncover these through hypnosis.


The subconscious mind is there to protect us and so adopts coping mechanisms such as over eating to help us deal with things in our lives. The subconscious is very literal and does not judge or analyse, that is for the conscious part of our minds.


Hypnotherapy is extremely useful for changing negative habits into positive and helping a person to take control of their lives.


Hypnotherapy is not sleep, you are not under control or powerless and you will not say or do anything you wouldn't normally. You will always be in control, know what is happening and can come out of hypnosis at any time.
